Descripción
The project design was highly relevant and appropriate in addressing the identified policy gap in Fiji’s planted forest sector. At the time of project formulation, Fiji lacked a coherent and updated national policy to guide the sustainable expansion of planted forests, despite ambitious afforestation and reforestation targets and increasing private sector and landowner interest. The project was designed to respond directly to a clearly articulated government mandate, as reflected in Cabinet Decision No. 72/2024.
