Red bean prices have dramatically increased during the reporting period (Sept-Dec 2010), affecting small consumers' access to markets. The adverse weather has had negative effects on food security by causing losses in bean production. The food security situation throughout the country was affected by adverse weather, agencies report moderate hunger and a very low prevalence of undernourishment. The Government is implementing price control measures to benefit consumers, while also conti nuing a National Strategy for Food and Nutrition Security.
