| dc.description | For many years the UK had heard complaints from farmers about the practices of supermarket chains. In 2008 the Competition Commission found that they had a point. In 2010 a Groceries Supply Code of Practice was established. Where there is a Code there is an Adjudicator. In 2013 the Adjudicator was given statutory authority to arbitrate disputes, investigate confidential complaints from direct and indirect suppliers, hold to account retailers who break the rules by 'naming and shaming' or, if necessary, imposing a fine. This article will look at this new rural view and consider the implications for consumers. | |
