| dc.description | Food prices in local markets showed an upward trend, adversely affecting food access. Nominal millet price has reached the highest level observed in 2008. The number of food insecure people is estimated at 2.6 million. The effects of the 2009/10 food crisis are still affecting food security conditions of poor households and the situation could worsen if prices remain high. The crisis situation in neighbouring countries is causing widespread displacement of people that are crossing into Niger . The Government is rebuilding national food reserves while implementing safety net programmes to assist poor consumers. | |
