Descripción
The challenges for research and Development of goats and the justification of increased productivity from them are discussed with reference to the presence of 94% of the total world population of about 674 million goats, numerous "improver breeds", interactions with the environment and socio-economic benefits to poor farmers. The relevance of prevailing production systems, economic contribution, and post-production aspects are also discussed.
