Resumen

Descripción

The project supported farming communities by providing training in physical, biological and nature-based approaches to manage FAW infestation. Farmers’ knowledge of control measures, including the production of botanical pesticides from locally available plant species and resources, has been significantly enhanced. The knowledge of government staff, including agriculture officers and extension workers, on various aspects of managing FAW has also been improved. In addition, the success of the project has triggered a government-to-government agreement between Indonesia and Timor-Leste, under which the government of Timor-Leste has received from the government of Indonesia in-kind support, worth approximately USD 400 000, to tackle FAW. Overall, these outcomes are expected to reduce the impact of FAW infestation in the country.
