dc.descriptionThis newsletter provides an overview of the progress of the project from May to September 2019, with focus on the project highlights and key activities in the course of implementation. The project sustainable financing expert team conducted a social investigation survey to assess the financing status and identify existing constraints and problems in Poyang Lake protected areas. The project management office (PMO) has signed agreements with the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve (PLNNR), Nanji National Nature Reserve (Nanji NR) and Duchang Provincial Nature Reserve (Duchang NR) to implement biodiversity monitoring program and carry out community co-management activities. Additionally, the PMO organized training class on the subject of “ survey and monitoring of Water Deer” and held workshop on establishing sustainable PA financing mechanism. The project keeps its progress on the right track. At the end of the newsletter, it centered on describing a story happened in Nanji NR about how to balance the interests of the fishermen and wintering birds.
