dc.descriptionThis newsletter provides an overview of the progress of the project from July to December 2018, which achieved good results. A multi-sectoral joint superintendence on the Dongting Lake area was carried out in Hunan Province. The Regulations on the Protection of Dongting Lake Wetland and Administrative Measures for the 4 Nature Reserves have been steadily introduced. The NRs will broaden their horizons and increase their knowledge by going to other well protected and managed areas to study and exchange. The technical experts joining with administration bureau of the NRs and scientific research institutions will strengthen the monitoring capability of the flagship species as well as other wildlife resources. In December of this year, an international symposium named “Dongting Lake Ecological Protection and Green Development” was held in Yueyang, Hunan Province, which more than 120 representatives from around the world attended. The guests shared opinions on and experiences in international lake governance, wetland protection, restoration and management and national park construction, etc.
