As part of the SIDS Solutions Forum, 30-31 August 2021, FAO collected innovations and creative digital technologies that respond to local problems and challenges.
This flyer summarizes a taro breeding innovation that builds resistance to taro leaf blight and broadens the genetic diversity of taro. Taro diseases are yet not present in Fiji. Breeding to build resistance to taro leaf blight and broaden the genetic diversity of taro is an important part of a contingency plan for Fiji in case the disease is introduced to Fiji in the near future.
