| dc.description | As part of its Strategic Framework 2010-2019, FAO aims to improve linkages and transitions between emergency, rehabilitation and development. The FAO Emergency Operations and Rehabilitation Division (TCEO) uses the Plan of Action (PoA) as a tool to promote more integrated planning and coordination and to guide a smooth transition from relief to development. The PoA describes the FAO strategy in Zimbabwe for “bridging” emergency activities with more medium and long-term development programmes ove r the next five years. This document maps out FAO support to the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) and other main stakeholders for the revitalization of the agricultural sector in Zimbabwe. It proposes to align FAO assistance and support with government priorities and strategies. Through implementing the PoA, FAO also intends to reinforce collaboration and enable more integrated planning between the FAO emergency unit and regular country programme, as well as other FAO technical units, throughout the transition period. The PoA was designed using a participatory approach involving Government, non-governmental organization (NGO) partners, civil society - including producer organizations, donors and various FAO units from the Southern Africa sub-regional office and headquarters. It is built around three interrelated Strategic Focus Areas (SFAs) contributing to Outcome 6 of the Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance Framework (ZUNDAF) 2007-2011 - improved food security and sustain able management of natural resources and the environment. | |
