Descripción
The Ca Mau province in southern Viet Nam is one of the most drought prone areas of the Mekong Delta. From 2023/2024, an El Niño-induced drought began intensifying in March. When the threshold was met in March 2024, FAO, in close coordination with the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Authority (VDDMA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), implemented anticipatory actions to safeguard rice and shrimp farming livelihoods. This report provides an overview of the intervention's activation as well as an analysis of its impacts on people's livelihoods and food security.
