Resumen

Descripción

Coarse grain prices have remained mostly stable across the country up to July, reflecting ample supplies; however prices have began to increase in August as the lean season has approached. Food security conditions during the reporting period have been generally stable; however since June food security started to deteriorate in the north and northeast regions and agencies classify these areas as stressed food security. Although late start of rains was reported in some parts of the country, cr ops and vegetation conditions are good with favourable production prospects. The Government is implementing a number of policies to counter the rising food prices such as the usual subsidized sale of basic food staples.
