Through the Special Fund for Emergency and Resilience Activities, the Government of Belgium contributed USD 800 000 to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to support drought-affected livestock-keeping households in the Syrian Arab Republic. The contribution will enable integrated animal health and livestock assistance for 25 000 vulnerable households, including veterinary services, vaccination campaigns, awareness-raising and the distribution of animal feed. This document outlines the context of the intervention and the importance of Belgium’s timely support in protecting livestock assets and sustaining food production.
