Resumen
Descripción
The expected impact of the project was the improvement of public health and strengthening of Ghana’s food system through the reduction of foodborne illnesses as a result of enhanced food safety practices, regulatory compliance and quality control across the food processing sector. By building the capacity of SMEs to meet national and international standards, the initiative was expected to increase the availability of safe, nutritious and high-quality food products while boosting SME competitiveness, job creation and market access. Increased consumer awareness of nutrition and food safety is expected to promote healthier dietary choices and stimulate demand for safer foods, reinforcing trust between consumers and producers. Overall, the project will contribute to sustainable economic growth, improved nutrition outcomes and the effective implementation of Ghana’s national food safety and nutrition policies.
