Descripción
Sustainable energy, energy that is accessible, cleaner and more efficient, is key to achieving economic development and poverty reduction targets. Currently nearly one in five people around the world do not have access to modern energy services and approximately three billion people rely on wood, coal, charcoal or animal waste for cooking and heating. This is a major barrier to eradicating poverty. Under the Sustainable Energy for All initiative of the UN Secretary General, action is being mobilized to achieve universal access to modern energy services by 2030, improve energy efficiency and increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
