dc.descriptionThe Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme team designed a multiplayer game aiming to introduce hunting sustainability concepts through different scenarios, using only locally available and low-cost materials. It exists in three versions with different proposed management options and each game is composed of two scenarios. The first scenario is set up so the players are likely to overexploit the resource. The second scenario introduces mechanisms to promote sustainable behaviour use and to observe whether players modify their behaviour. The three games explore:(i) the importance of monitoring community hunting levels;(ii) the system of rotating hunting zones; and(iii) varying hunting intensity due to different species’ reproductive rate.The SWM Programme is being funded by the European Union with co-funding from the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) and the French Development Agency (AFD). The initiative is coordinated by a dynamic consortium of four partners, namely the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
