Descripción
With significant investment from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), FAO’s support, through the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD), including tools, approaches and best practices, has moved countries closer to the goal of operating effective surveillance, early warning and response systems for priority animal and zoonotic disease threats, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
This document provides select examples of country ownership and regional buy-in for FAO programmes, tools and approaches, which demonstrate how seed funding from USAID has brought about significant returns on investment, and laid the ground for sustainable capacity enhancement in Africa, Asia and the Near East.
