The report outlines the objectives of the new Master Plan for fisheries and the objectives of the mission. It then assesses the past and present supply and demand for fisheries and aquaculture research in Mauritius, and structures the relationship between supply and demand for the main research activities. A SWOT analysis is used to identify particular areas for interventions and a series of short and longer term recommendations are provided, presented in a format which allows for follow up acti ons in the future. Requirement for an Inter Ministerial Committee: Results from the interview process and the questionnaires highlighted a lack of communication at inter-ministerial level, and the need for well structured inter-ministerial committees, where research roles, responsibilities and activities are discussed.
