Agriculture in the Kyrgyz Republic faces significant challenges, particularly affecting its promising horticulture sector. Smallholder farmers are the backbone of agricultural production in the country but often struggle with limited access to quality inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, improved planting materials, appropriate technologies, and technical knowledge. Although the Kyrgyz Republic has a comparative advantage in stone fruit production, farmers and producers of seedlings and planting materials lack the capacity to meet market demand in terms of both quality and quantity.
