Resumen
Descripción
There is huge potential for fisheries and aquaculture in Sudan; however, the contribution of fisheries to the country’s Gross Domestic Product is marginal. Sudan is also dependent on imports of fish and fishery products to satisfy the limited per capita fish consumption. The country has great potential to drastically boost the overall national fish production through aquaculture; and a domestic market to support expanded aquaculture production already exists. Against this background, the goal of the project was to increase freshwater fish production through the implementation of modern and appropriate aquaculture technologies, and improved management and capacity building in the private and public sectors.
