Established in 2010 by the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as an operating entity of the Financial Mechanism of the Convention, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has a mandate of global importance: to help keep the planet’s temperature increase below 2 degrees Celsius.
