The collaboration between FAO and Ankara University is a strategic partnership that allowed to enhance national awareness on topics such as food security and safety, natural resource management and rural development while targeting Sustainable Development Goals 2, 3, 4, 13 and 15.
Since 2018, the partners organized a panel on the theme “Our actions are our future” and implemented a field assessment on social protection and employability conditions/needs of Syrian refugees, seasonal workers and rural households in the Turkish agricultural sector. The assessment also contributed to the formulation of the project “Building resilience of Syrians under temporary protection and host communities in Turkey through supporting socio-economic integration and creating livelihood opportunities” and the production of a publication on “agricultural livelihood and labour markets”.
Additional results focus on data collection activities for a resilience impact evaluation, and the development of FAO Turkey communication abilities.
Finally, the document highlights some important examples of how partnering with higher education institutions can contribute to address FAO’s objectives.
