Resumen

Descripción

The project contributed directly to the achievement of SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by strengthening Vanuatu’s policy and institutional framework for sustainable agriculture and forest management. Through the MTR and updating of the National Agriculture Sector Policy, the project supported improved productivity, food and nutrition security, and more resilient and inclusive agricultural value chains, particularly for smallholders and rural communities. At the same time, the development of the NTFP Strategy and the updating of the National Kava Strategy promoted sustainable use of forest resources, biodiversity conservation, and environmentally sound production systems, including agroforestry and soil conservation practices. By integrating sustainable resource management, livelihood diversification, and inclusive value chain development into national policies, the project strengthened the enabling environment for reducing hunger while conserving terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity.
