Descripción
Livestock is an important subsector of the agriculture sector in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Animal production is mainly organized within cooperative farms that operate integrated crop–livestock systems. These farms function under the management of designated work teams responsible for livestock activities. The project introduced technical solutions that were largely new to, or previously inaccessible for, the beneficiaries. Specialized expertise was applied to improve feed crop species selection, balanced ration formulation, feed processing and quality control, practices that had not been widely applied by cooperative members before the intervention. Innovations in species selection, ration formulation, feed processing technologies and standardized quality testing enabled farmers to use feed more efficiently and increase production. As a result, beneficiaries adopted more effective and technically sound practices, enhancing livestock performance and contributing to more sustainable production systems. The project was strongly aligned with national priorities and international development frameworks.
