Descripción
The Government of Italy’s generous contribution of EUR 5 million to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will support the 24-month project “Resilient agricultural livelihoods and emergency crop production support in the Sudan”. The Sudan continues to face overlapping crises driven by protracted conflict, large-scale displacement, market disruptions and climate variability, severely undermining agricultural and livestock production systems. The project will help protect and restore the livelihoods of 42 200 vulnerable rural households (211 000 people) affected by conflict, displacement and compounded shocks across River Nile, Northern, Kordofan and Darfur states. Working closely with local partners, FAO will provide households with crop seeds, livestock, vaccination support, training and market linkages to respond to urgent humanitarian needs while strengthening resilience and recovery.
