| dc.description | Sub-Saharan Africa has the world’s youngest population, with more than 60 percent of its 960 million people below the age of 24. To maximize its demographic promise, the region will have to create more than 10 million jobs per year in rural areas over the next two decades to absorb the new entrants to the labour force. Agriculture has untapped potential to contribute to the youth employment challenge. This initiative will promote decent agricultural and agri-business jobs for youth, with the ultimate objective of reducing unemployment and under-employment among poor rural youth. | |
