Resumen

Descripción

This publication provides easy-to-follow protocols for technical personnel of national plant protection organizations in Africa to survey Ralstonia solanacearum, commonly called bacterial wilt. It is designed to aid in the monitoring, detection, sample collection, and diagnostics of Ralstonia solanacearum, ensuring effective phytosanitary decision-making to manage the pest risk and protect trade in plants and plant products. It also includes visuals of symptoms of Ralstonia solanacearum, for easy identification and references for additional reading and consultation. This field survey guidance is designed to enhance the resilience of national phytosanitary systems against plant pests of regulatory, economic and environmental concern, particularly Ralstonia solanacearum. This survey guidance complements the digital tools available to NPPO plant health inspectors, through the APP mobile application and Geographic Information System (GIS) platform, for monitoring and data collection. Countries will use the survey data to support the export trade of pest-free crop commodities.
