Descripción
This paper explores the impact of recall periods on the accuracy of self-employment income data collected with household surveys in developing countries. Through randomized survey experiments conducted in Cambodia, it examines the differences in fishery output measurements between various recall periods (weekly, monthly, seasonal, and yearly) and the potential for mobile phones to minimize recall bias. This study contributes to the literature on measurement error and survey designs in developing countries. It also contributes to the literature on different survey modes, particularly in person versus phone surveys, in developing contexts.
