Sweden has reinforced its commitment to global food security with a total contribution of SEK 73 million (USD 7.23 million) to FAO’s emergencies operations in 2025. The contribution agreement between FAO and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency includes funding to support crisis-affected communities in Afghanistan and Somalia, as well as flexible funding, through FAO's Special Fund for Emergency and Resilience Activities Agriculture Input Response Capacity and Anticipatory Action windows, to boost food production in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Sudan and the Syrian Arab Republic. Through its multi-year engagement with FAO, Sweden has played a critical role in bolstering emergency preparedness, anticipatory action and early recovery strategies across crisis-affected regions. This latest contribution underscores FAO and Sweden’s long-term partnership to provide humanitarian assistance and improve food security worldwide.
