Resumen

Descripción

Food prices have shown a generally stable trend, however, palm oil prices are still high. Rice prices are also expected to increase further due to illegal cross border trade. Food security conditions have improved in recent months thanks to a good 2010 harvest, however the lean season is approaching and different agencies are deeply concerned over high levels of hunger and high food prices. The food security situation is not affected by civil insecurity; however the country still struggles to recover from post conflict and insecurity. The Government aims at avoiding food shortages and price hikes through a temporary export ban on locally produced rice and palm oil.
