dc.descriptionThe event will introduce participants to the CEDAW Convention, its Article 14 on rural women and the GR34 on the rights of rural women. Its objective is to raise awareness of the Convention and the general recommendation 34. It will also discuss the role of the UN and the civil society in facilitating the integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment matters into policies, legislation and investment strategies at national level through supporting implementation of CEDAW and the GR34. Re presentatives of the Republic of Guatemala and Botswana will talk about their experience with implementing CEDAW as well as how they can apply the GR34 in the future in order to enhance women’s equitable access to productive resources, services and opportunities in the national context of food security and nutrition. We will invite the audience to contribute with their own experience and questions.
