It facilitates the development and exploitation of the vast area of acid soils with low fertility in the country. El taller sobre Manejo de suelos ácidos fértiles del trópico húmedo americano fue la primera actividad científica que realizó el IICA en Surinam, luego de su adquisición como membresía del instituto. Facilita el desarrollo y explotación de la vasta área de suelos ácidos y de baja fertilidad del país.
