<p> The first meeting of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) Working Group on Flyingfish and Dolphinfish was held in Puerto Rico, United States of America and virtually, from 4 to 5 June 2024. It was attended by 46 participants from 16 members of the commission, observers from four organizations as well as officers from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The objectives included the development of new terms of reference to cover flyingfish and accommodate for the extended mandate, which will include dolphinfish and potentially, other pelagic species not covered by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), as identified by the working group; the update on the progress of implementation of the Eastern Caribbean Flyingfish Fishery Management Plan (ECFF-FMP) 2020–2025; strengthening the collaborative framework with the regional organizations and among members regarding the identification of priorities related to dolphinfish research and management.</p> <p> La primera reunión del Grupo de Trabajo de la Comisión de Pesca para el Atlántico Centro-Occidental (COPACO) sobre peces voladores y dorados se celebró en Puerto Rico, Estados Unidos de América y de manera virtual, del 4 al 5 de junio de 2024. Asistieron 46 participantes de 16 miembros de la Comisión, observadores de cuatro organizaciones y funcionarios de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación. Entre los objetivos de la reunión cabe citar la elaboración de un nuevo mandato ampliado que incluirá a los peces voladores y los dorados; el intercambio de información actualizada sobre los avances en la implementación del Plan de ordenación pesquera de los peces voladores del Caribe oriental 2020-2025; el refuerzo del marco de colaboración con las organizaciones regionales y entre los miembros sobre la identificación de prioridades relacionadas con la investigación y ordenación de dorados.</p>
