The regional workshop, entitled “Engaging agriculture, forestry and fisheries in support to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” was held in Kigali, Rwanda from 19 to 21 September 2016. This event served as an opportunity for FAO to engage more effectively with countries in Africa, through its delivery mechanisms, on changes needed to achieve the SDGs. The purpose of the workshop was to identify priorities for action in the context of the Africa Agricultural Transformation Agenda throug h FAO’s Regional Initiative 2 (RI2) on “Sustainable Intensification of Production and Value Chain Development in Africa.” The four areas of focus of the workshop – sustainable intensification, value chain development, poverty reduction, and nutrition – are the pillars around which the discussions were organized.
