Persisting shortages of domestic food production is a constraintto achieving food and nutrition security in Democratic People’sRepublic of Korea (DPRK). Because food crop production isprioritized, smaller portions of land are allocated to producinganimal feed and forage crops. This project was implementedto establish and provide training in the integrated crop-livestocksystem to maximize production of crops and livestock onthe available land. Within this system livestock and crops areproduced so that the waste products of one serve as a resourcefor the other. An integrated crop-livestock farming systemoptimizes the use of natural resources.
