| dc.description | The agricultural sector is the most important contributor to the economy and also the most important source of employment. In 1977 it contributed 27% to the GDP (See Table in the Annex). The development of the sectors is undergoing some very important changes with much emphasis being placed on its role as a major contributor to the overall economic and social development of the country. The major economic and social objectives of the government are based on the attainment of self-sufficiency and to adequately "feed, house and clothe the Guyanese population". El sector agrícola es el contribuyente más importante a la economía y también la fuente más importante de empleo. En 1977 contribuyó con el 27% del PIB (Ver Cuadro en el Anexo). El desarrollo de los sectores está experimentando algunos cambios muy importantes, con mucho énfasis en su papel como un importante contribuyente al desarrollo económico y social general del país. Los principales objetivos económicos y sociales del gobierno se basan en el logro de la autosuficiencia y en "alimentar, albergar y vestir adecuadamente a la población guyanesa". | |
