| dc.description | Türkiye and Syria were shaken by two major earthquakes on February 6th. The earthquakes resulted in the deaths of more than 54 000 people and left hundreds of thousands injured and millions homeless in the two countries. As one of Türkiye's most important agricultural regions was affected by the earthquakes, the agriculture and food sectors also suffered serious damage. The 13th edition of FAOTURN was mainly focused on the earthquake. The response of the FAO and its partners on the ground, as well as the United Nations' aid efforts, were the main focus of this edition, which covered the work carried out in the field from the very first moments of the earthquake under the Emergency Response program. | |
