The project “Upscaling Ecosystem-Based Climate Resilience of Vulnerable Rural Communities in the Macroregion Valles of the Plurinational State of Bolivia” (RECEM-Valles) is the first climate change adaptation initiative in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It aims to strengthen the resilience of rural livelihoods and ecosystems in the Macroregion Valles, a region increasingly affected by extreme climate events and long-term climate change. The project adopts an integrated, ecosystem-based approach to climate adaptation, focusing on the restoration and preservation of critical ecosystem functions, particularly water regulation, revitalization of traditional irrigation systems, and enhancement of institutional capacities.
