| dc.description | Although prices have shown a stable trend in recent months, particularly thanks to cross-border imports, prices remained at very high levels compared to last year. Food security conditions were estimated at a stressed phase in south and south-eastern areas as well as in the Senegal River Valley and in peri-urban areas of Nouakchott. The number of food insecure people was estimated to be 453,000; major drivers of food insecurity in this period are the high prices on markets and late rains i n pastoral areas. The government is implementing new measures to assist farmers' activities through training, irrigation and mechanization while also supporting poor consumers with subsidized shops, though these were due in June. | |
