| dc.description | The mangrove forests of the Saloum River Estuary in Senegal are deteriorating as a result of rising sea levels, saltwater intrusion, a decline in rainfall and the over exploitation of mangroves for lumber and charcoal.</p> This poster is one of a selection of entries from the TREEHOUSING International Wood Design Competition that was run by FAO and DBR | Design Build Research School on the occasion of the XIV World Forestry Congress in Durban, South Africa, in September 2015.The competition chal lenged architecture students, professional architects and designers to develop innovative and sustainable wood housing and urban building solutions. | |
