The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of the Plan of Intensification of Malaria Control Actions (PIACM) on the annual incidence of Malaria in the Legal Amazon and in the respective States that belong to this region. This is an epidemiological and ecological study, based on secondary data about the epidemiological situation of Malaria in the Legal Amazon recorded in data series from 1981 to 2015. It was elaborated an intervention analysis model based in temporal series, which established the average of the Annual Parasite Index (API) occurrences before and after the intervention. The average value of the API for the time period of the study (1981 to 2015) in the Legal Amazon was 23 cases/1000 inhabitants. The average API (before the intervention) was 29 cases/1000 inhabitants. The average API (after the intervention) was 15 cases/1000 inhabitants, with a reduction of 48% between the two time periods. The effect was different among the States. The highest impact in the reduction of malaria was in Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Roraima and Maranhão. In Acre and Amazonas, the API value was increased during the period of post-intervention (2001-2015) because the effect of the Program was temporary on those States.
