Descripción
This study aims at providing a clear overview and analysis of all aspects that will facilitate, challenge and promote the development of the Solar Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) in Libya. Two concept notes are presented to address the implementation of SPIS pilot projects in Brak region and in the coastal strip in Libya. The main objectives are to:
• reduce water used for agriculture and make the conservation principle as a backbone policy for water use and reuse; and
• set a program to wisely utilize all available natural resources including solar power and water.
Upon approval, the pilot systems should be made ready to be implemented on a large scale in the relevant regions throughout the country.
