Descripción
The selection of the spatial area designated for aquaculture development and careful selection of farm sites are essential first steps to ensure the success and sustainability of aquaculture. They should be carried out in accordance with the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, and the ecosystem approach to aquaculture. FAO in partnership with the World Bank is making special efforts to address spatial planning for promoting aquaculture growth in a sustainable manner by developing key publications and tools and by conducting training workshops.
