Descripción

In the Pacific, livestock farming plays a vital role in supporting livelihoods across cultural, social, and economic dimensions. Project activities focused on training farmers and government staff of the Cook Islands in breeding technologies and improved livestock management practices, leading to enhanced production and productivity. The project also strengthened the role of government in research and extension, to support these improved practices being effectively cascaded to farmers. Collectively, these interventions support more climate-resilient livestock systems and contribute to improved food security at the community level. At the level of the SDGs, the project contributed to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
