| dc.description | The publication is structured in two complementary units. The first corresponds to a conceptual framework that addresses the communication sciences, evidencing its importance for the achievement and sustainability of the objectives of any intervention strategy that requires a favorable attitude and a change in the behavior of the groups or sectors involved. In particular, the Risk Communication and Communication for Development are described as the two formal disciplines of communication that must be addressed simultaneously for the management of health risks that impact on the health and well-being of communities. Under this context, a clear definition of the problem of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is presented, describing its causes and impact on public health and on the sustainability of agrifood systems, and with this its positioning on the international political agenda. The second unit describes a methodological framework of 8 steps that allows guiding the process of formulating and deploying strategies aimed at raising awareness and advocating for the containment of AMR, in a systematic and programmatic manner. The publication contributes to Strategic Objective 4 (SP4), Outcome 4.2. Likewise, it is conceived as a complementary tool to the FAO Global Plan of Action on AMR (2016-2020), whose sphere of action 1 corresponds to raising levels of awareness of AMR. The publication is directed mainly to the Agricultural Health and Food Safety Services of the countries of the region, as entities responsible for containing AMR from the food and agriculture sector, and to protect the national agricultural sector. | |
