Wood is evaluated as eco-friendly building material in aspect of its sustainability and carbon absorption. However, traditional timber building elements are not enough to be used in high-rise non-residential building because of its lower stiffness and poor vibration performance. Therefore, the researches about timber-concrete composite (TCC), in which upper concrete layer and lower timber lower layer are utilized with their intrinsic strength, have been conducted. In TCC, shear connector resists the slip between timber and concrete and structural performance and composite action varies with slip modulus (Ks) of shear connector. In this study, 4 types of novel plywood shear connectors, plywood, plywood with holes to prevent disassembling concrete layer, plywood with small grooves for reinforcement, plywood with steel tube for reinforcement, were developed based on notched connection system which is composed of grooves in timber layer. To evaluate its applicability as shear connector, double shear tests were conducted to evaluate Ks with universal test machine and the test data were compared with Ks of metal shear connectors, metal plate, and self-tapping screw, in existing research conducted by Hong (2017). Since the spacings vary with shear connectors, each Ks was divided with effective length. As a result, plywood shear connector showed higher Ks than metal plate, but lower than self-tapping screw. Although Ks of plywood shear connector was lower than self-tapping screw, plywood shear connector can replace metal shear connector, considering the energy consumption of manufacturing, and labor cost of installation of self-tapping screw and similar Ks with metal plate.
