Welcome to Volume 2 of the FAO Environmental Management Tool Kit (EMTK) for Obsolete Pesticides. The tool kit provides a practical set of methodologies to assist countries in the risk-based management of obsolete pesticides. The tool kit has been divided into sections for ease of reference. Tools D, E and F in Volume 2 cover all aspects of the safe storage and transport of pesticides. The outputs from applying tools D, E and F are essential planning tools that should be incorporated into the project environmental assessment and EMP, which is covered in more detail in EMTK Volume 3. Application of the tools will have a direct impact on the safeguarding strategy adopted by a country and will make a large contribution to risk reduction and safe implementation.
