From 2023 to 2025, the ClimBeR program implemented an integrated, locally led drought-resilience model in the Hanzila community in Monze District, Zambia. A solar-powered borehole was installed to provide water for domestic use, livestock, and irrigation. This system is managed by an elected Water Committee, which is responsible for water allocation, fee collection, and maintenance. The initiative has improved health and nutrition, increased income generation, and reduced labor burdens during the dry seasons. In 2025, the community enhanced the system through substantial local financial contributions. The report emphasizes efforts to scale out via peer learning and engagement with the government, confirming the model's wider applicability and pinpointing essential conditions for its nationwide replication.
