The Caribbean region is faced by major challenges in its attempt to improve the competitiveness and resilience of national and regional agricultural value chains (VCs). The lack of data inhibits assessment of which products have the potential to sustain and grow viable agricultural businesses, generate revenues for farmers and develop the agroprocessing base. As a result, the region continues to struggle with increasing dependence on imports, low application of productive technologies, weak connectivity between sector actors, and insufficient financing and investment in the sector.
