This document is the final report of the fifth session of the Scientific Sub-Committee of the Fishery Committee for the Eastern Central Atlantic (CECAF), which was held in Casablanca, Morocco, from 4 to 6 December 2007. Major topics discussed were: (i) the reports of the three working groups on artisanal fisheries, small pelagics and demersal species respectively; (ii) fisheries management issues in the CECAF region; (iii) validation of the resources and fisheries inventories available in the Fisheries Resources Monitoring System (FIRMS) for the CECAF region – FIRMS activities and responsibilities for data provision; and (iv) future programme of work in the region.
